When the single middle-aged Luis travels from Barcelona to bury the remains of his mother in the vault of his family in Segovia, he is lodged by his aunt Pilar in her old house where he spent his summer of 1936 with her. He meets his cousin Angelica, who was his first love, living on the first floor with her husband and daughter, and he recalls his childhood in times of the Spanish Civil War entwined with the present.

[FlixOlé] Marked by the stigma of an anti-fascist message that reduces its true significance, the passage of time has benefited the film by giving it a broader interpretation about the memory reconstruction process. With Proust directly mentioned and Bergman succinctly referenced, it's a film that strengthens over time, not only as a poisonous look at that bourgeoisie that they prefer to forget, but as a very accurate reflection on the passage of time and how the memories of childhood continue to build personality
