The plot of this latest Shyamalan flick is not bad and the tension is building up. But somehow there's something missing and the ending is just a big disappointment in my opinion: the devil exists and he want's to collect the souls of "bad" people by killing them. That's not very original, is it?!

After the terrific "6th sense"" and the nice plot-twists in "Unbreakable", Shyamalan seems to have lost it: Signs was a catastrophe, The village mediocre at best and with Devil he still is far from his stroke of genius AKA "The 6th sense" in my opinion...

Low budget who-dun-it claustrophobic-ish horror film interspersed with detective work. I personally think the film could work even better if they focused on emphasizing the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in an elevator, but the film still works nonetheless. Performance is decent enough to fill the film with an air of mystery that the devil can be anyone in the room. The ending however is the weakest part of the film, as the climax is resolved too easily after all of the budding suspense has been built up.

@scottelblein I just don't understand how a few seconds of scene of the girl siding with the black security officer triggered the snowflake in you.
If anything it sets up the plot for the white guy to survive the event
.

@xaliber ignorance is bliss, eh "Pradipa"?

What's the official minimum requirement in seconds that it takes to recognize a pattern? I'll be sure to set the timer on my smartwatch so I don't recognize it too soon, or else "Pradipa" might hurt my feelings by calling me a snowflake.

@scottelblein why would I hurt someone already with a massive wound like you? Prancing around screaming "woke culture!" while posing toughness by calling internet randos by their name like an insecure bully would do when they feel threatened. My question was a genuine attempt at conversation (that's why I talked about the plot), but now I only feel sorry for you.

@xaliber So calling someone by their name now means you're an "insecure bully posing toughness" ... lmfao, you sound like a walking Liberal talking point.

The very definition of a snowflake in this context is finding some way to be faux offended when someone ... wait for it ... calls you by your *name*. lmao.

No need to feel sorry for me, I'm perfectly fine. It's you Borg drones who've allowed yourself to let the Liberal mainstream media, the Lib edu system, and your equally brainwashed peers to create yet another mindless pawn. I'm even willing to bet you have your pronouns in your Twitter/IG profile(s). #AmiRite?

@scottelblein damn. You could've responded to the simple question why the event in the film that leads to the white guy surviving made you anxious, but you chose to let out a crazy talk. Why? I'm here for a film talk not a rant. I hope you have been seeing a professional. Take care.

I liked the concept of this film, mainly because I like "whodunit" stories. Add in some Devil and supernatural elements and this is right up my alley. The part I don't care for is that you can tell this is a M. Night Shyamalan story near the end. He didn't write the screenplay but they did use his story and he produced it, and it shows.

ENJOYED THIS ONE, WHAT AN INTENSE FEELING OF DREAD THIS AWESOME MOVIE PUTS OUT THERE, I LOVE IT, I GENUINELY FELT FOR THOSE POOR BASTARDS TRAPPED IN THERE. AND FOR THIS MOVIE TO MAKE IT WORK IN SUCH A SMALL SPACE WITH ONLY FIVE MAIN PEOPLE HAD TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL WITH SLICK WRITING AND A VERY VERY INTERESTING STORY AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT,
YEP YOU CAN TICK ALL BOXES ABOVE BECAUSE THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME, NO DRAMA,
NO SJW BS, JUST A VERY VERY GOOD HORROR SUSPENSE THRILLER WHO THE HELLA IS IT KINDA THING AND O BOY
DID IT EVER WORK. FILM'S OF
TODAY NEED TO TAKE NOTES BECAUSE THIS WAS SO ENJOYABLE AND ENTERTAINING THROUGH AND THROUGH. 9/10

Produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Devil is an intense supernatural thriller. The story follows five strangers who get stuck in an elevator and begin to turn on each other after one of them is attacked and killed during a power outage, meanwhile some unknown force seemingly prevents rescue from the outside. The script is especially well-written, and really brings dramatic tension to the situation. The storytelling too is quite engrossing; drawing the audience into the mystery of who the characters are and what is happening. A riveting and well-crafted film, Devil does an extraordinary job at exploring the themes of paranoia and fear.

Considering this is an M Night Shyamalan flick, I was impressed. It's not scary but it is suspenseful and entertaining. 7/10 stars.

I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere of this film, the shots of the city, the rain, the whole Detroit Become Human vibe was so good. The plot itself was what completely let down the film for me
