Absolutely atrocious nonsense. The storyline can be summed up as, "No matter how paranoid, superstitious and psychologically abusive your mother is, she's always right." And it was obvious that was going to be the case within the first 5-10 minutes. Save yourself the bother of sitting through this tripe.

A long setup gives way to an abbreviated payoff. However, despite this quibble, the film is still fairly interesting. More depth and folklore would have helped, but it's still an adequate film.

Unfortunately, it's a well shot but underdeveloped story, that clearly suffers from getting repetitive and not explaining itself well (i.e. mentions the evil eye a couple of times but doesn't really explain it, which is bizarre considering it's literally the title.) If the execution was thought through, it might have turned out better, but in it's current form it just feels like an idea that should have been an episode of an anthology TV show at best and not a feature length film.
