Heavyweights

Another film from my younger years revisited. Ben Stillers over the top character is what always made this film for me. Take that out and it would feel very generic.

The unintended prequel of Dodgeball. Tony Perkis _is_ White Goodman: same origin stories (overweight and becoming obsessed with fitness while their rich fathers funded everything), and same fates (getting overthrown and beat by a bunch of plucky underdogs). Heavyweights is basically the child-friendly Disney version of the October Revolution. "He is one, we are many. His days are numbered." Chubsters of the world, unite! "Did you ever hear the story of Icarus who continually rolled the ball up the hill? But when he got too close, the ball melted in the heat of the sun." LMAO. Combining the mythologies of Sisyphus and Icarus to sound smart is just more proof that Tony Perkis is White Goodman, who liked to break a mental sweat by being caught holding a dictionary in front of people. And I'm still nursing a massive crush on Leah Lail almost 30 years later.
