Kong should have stayed dead. At least as far as this pointless sequel is concerned. The movie takes ages to get going. Who watches "King Kong" movies to see unintentionally funny ape operations? When Kong finally wakes up, he is still the "horny son of a bitch" (quote from the movie) as in the first part. Only this time he doesn't fancy a blonde beauty, but another person in an ape costume. So you can't accuse him of only having one particular type.

Good for Kong that he only needs a new heart to be fit again. After all, he was riddled with what felt like thousands of bullets and fell from the World Trade Center, only to remain in a coma for ten years afterward. Nevertheless, something like rehab was obviously not necessary (admittedly, nobody wants to see that either).

Once the "Kong action" starts, the movie remains boring. It doesn't even come close to the first part or the 1933 film. The scenes with the two apes are also unintentionally funny, as it is even more obvious that they are two people in unconvincing costumes. None of the human characters were convincing either. Above all, Linda Hamilton and Brian Kerwin have no chemistry, so their romance didn't really do much for me. Hamilton in particular can be really glad that she had "Terminator," because based on this movie, her career would be in real danger.

The movie itself doesn't even work on an ironic level. It lacks the right kind of campiness, a sense of humor that works, or entertaining characters. Instead, all that remains is pure boredom.
