This movie was really mediocre, and I think all of it has to do with the character of James Vega. In Mass Effect 3 (the game this movie is from), James Vega is a really unlikable character. I found myself avoiding him instead of talking to him like I do with everyone else in Mass Effect 3. So the best idea to BioWare was to make a film about an unlikable character.

Why did they need to add backstory onto a character who didn't need any? None of this movie's story is in ME3's Codex either, they just made all of this up! This movie easily could've been about Liara, Tali, or even everybody's favorite, Garrus Vakarian.

The animation style was garbage to me. Vega looked "derp-ish" for the whole entire film, and his partners don't look any better either. Especially the Krogan character that joins Vega near the end of the film. They chose to make the Krogan character in 3D, and when you mix him with the backgrounds, he looks out of place.

The story itself was really mediocre. There were a couple moments I enjoyed, such as the beginning fight scene and also the ending was well done. But the rest of it was either meh or just plain bad. All the characters are just giant stereotypes, and you can tell right from the beginning of the movie. You have Love Interest #1, Love Interest #2, Annoying Smartass, Really Smart Guy, Tank Guy, and Girl. It's sad because also the Tank Guy was the only likable character in the whole film.

The only good parts of this film were the action scenes, and even then, there are films out there that do action scenes a whole lot better. Even if you're a Mass Effect fan, I suggest that you stay away from this one.
