I like it, Pete Doctor’s Pixar films are always a little more abstract. I’m just not that big on the second act, it feels like it comes from a movie that’s more specifically aimed at children than everyone else. But still this is interesting and it’s gorgeous. Might very well be the peak of realistic looking animation, especially given that animation went into a more cartoony direction after this.

That was... fine? Not amazing. Sure, the core message is cute and meaningful, but something about the execution leaves much to be desired. This is nowhere near the brilliance and depth of _Coco_, nor does it have anywhere near the emotional catharsis of *Inside Out*. Still better than most animation movies out there, clearly, but not one of Pixar's best.

The majority of the movie gives you an existential crisis and then at the end it says fuck all that. It doesn't matter, and you're okay without purpose if you are kind, enjoying life and living to the fullest.

I don't know what it is about Pete Doctor Pixar films, but they don't appeal to me nearly as much to me as they do to other people.

Like, saying it's bad would be foolish, it's too well made for that.
The animation is top notch, as are the cinematography, colour grading and score More

“Life is full of possibilities. You just need to know where to look. Don't miss out on the joys of life.”

Soul is a fantastic movie. This was one of my most anticipated films of the year and after reading an abundance of overly positive reviews I started to build very high expectations. F More

Soul is a much more effective film than Pixars recent output. The exposition dump thats far too familiar in Inside Out and Coco is more effectivly spread across the films first act, and interwoven organically into the narrative. That alone gave this an air of prestige above Pixars last five or so mo More

Before explaining why I liked this movie, I'd like to point out that the main idea of the movie is *NOT* that you need find your purpose to have a happy life. It's the exact opposite! I'm not saying this just to be a professor, but because it's really important and that's why I l More
