Easily one of the best Star Trek movies. This is how you do it. Too bad the two Next Generation films after are no where near as good. The reboot films are good but this is better than them too.

Quite possibly the best of all the Star Trek films. First Contact has the perfect balance of action & drama without overindulging on either. A touch of humor at the right moments adds to the fun without trying too hard to be comedic (like Star Trek V).

Certainly this is the best film featuring the Next Generation cast, but I don't think it's better than The Wrath of Khan. The Borg as an enemy gradually reduced in menace over the course of the later series of ST:NG and this film marks another step downwards. By-the-by, they were further & fatally undermined in ST:VOY. Still, their look has been greatly improved.

Back to First Contact. Time travel in Trek has, by this point, come a long way since ST:TOS and warp-speed solar sling-shots. But as a plot device, it still has a place, despite the associated techno-babble. Patrick Stewart portrays Picard as a more complete & developed character than in the TV series.

The film flows smoothly, looks good and doesn't have too many plot-holes.

The best of the Next Generation films, this picks up story threads from some of the strongest episodes of the TV show without alienating the audience who haven't seen the show. The Borg have always been great villains and here they are given a face in the shape of Alice Krige, who is easily the best antagonist in the film series since Khan. After a rousing and impressive battle at the beginning of the film, the relentless and creepy nature of the Borg is played to great effect in the dark corridors of the Enterprise and on its hull. Splitting the crew into two separate plots helps to give all the crew something to do, but whilst the B plot on the planet's surface explores an interesting moment in Trek lore, ultimately it's the battle with the Borg that captures the attention. The film also has a great score from Jerry Goldsmith.

Let's forget about that recurring time travel topic that is certainly debatable. This was gorgeous. Truely a masterpiece.
Data is my hero. I love this character so much and Brent Spiner again has done his job flawlessly. And holy shit, the ending – got goose bumps when the vulcan dude removed his hood (I'm not a person of names, I guess he is an important guy, but oh well.. :D). Seeing Deanna drunk and her interaction with poor Ryker was hilarious.
Great story and great everything. Except, they couldn't resist to add attempted cute scenes (unbearable to watch them interact in the past).

I don't get why the SFX look worse than in "Generations" but at least they "fixed" the ridiculous uniforms! Otherwise a very entertaining watch although I still don't know if I should like all the time-traveling ore not!

Outstanding and totally frickin Awesome,
This hands down is the best Star Trek movie
of them all period.
The next generation crew was the crew
i choose growing up and
they always been my personal favourite,
(Excluding
Discovery).
Hard to think that first
Contact is closing in on being 30 years old.
And it's not aged a damn day
which is a testament to how amazing
this movie actually is.
I love time travel
Stories they are my absolute favourite
It's what I hope for
In my syfy movies.
The Borg are my favourite race ever
and they look evil
AF in this movie,
They are relentless and it's that,
that makes them so bloody menacing.
This movie had everything
And balanced it all to
'Perfection'.
So many modern syfy TV shows and movies today and still Star Trek First Contact puts them all
to shame...with ease

First time watching.. Just after the original movie. I liked the older movies much more. The Borg seems like a very dumb race, imagine having a sword and attacking them with that... Also, they still don't have seat belts in the spaceships, damn

@operator I'll guess you never watched TNG or voyager or anything at all besides the movies? You should.
