As a renowned producer and close associate of Dan Rather, Mary Mapes believes she’s broken the biggest story of the 2004 election: revelations of a sitting U.S. President’s military service. But when allegations come pouring in, sources change their stories, document authenticity is questioned, and the casualties begin to mount.

The first half is a challenge, with all the details necessary to retell the story. The second half is much better (and more relevant), with a brilliant Cate Blanchett representing the struggles of journalism in our era.

Justifiably sentimental about the decay of news, and broadcast journalism in particular.

I had to check the date on this movie. It wasn't the most interesting (I know who Dan Rather is, but I'm not in the US, so he's doesn't represent anything to me). But it felt like it was made with some jabs at the way the US seems to have fragmented into bipartisan communities and a loss of what was once "the greater good" during Covid. And then I see it was made 7 years ago. It made it feel more pertinent as a forewarning of how bad things were to be Solid acting, professionally done, but not probably only relevant in the US - it's just a slow moving drama to the rest of the world.

All the leftist Hollywood actors and biased storytelling here can’t change the fact that leftist “journalists” gave birth to Fake News. Take Dan Rather (played by Robert Redford) for example. Guess where he is working now. The Young Turks. One of the far left YouTube channels active today. Still trying to sling mud at Republican politicians in the name of “investigative journalism”. Mary Mapes (played by Cate Blanchett) published a book about her involvement in this scandal since getting fired. That book is the basis for this movie. At the end of the day, not only did this person made millions from selling a book detailing her own incompetence, she also got to spin up a narrative claiming victimhood status. Where were these leftist “investigative journalists” when Epstein was running the paedophile sex island? That would have implicated the Clintons and most of the leftist elites across politics and Holywood. They don’t investigate their own… eh? Rating this movie low, not due to the performances of the actors. But due to the false narrative it tries to portray.

**When journalism becomes limbless!**

A surprisingly good film, you can compare it with the Oscar winner 'Spotlight'. But it was not popular as that one, because it was about the American politics, so seems the world did not care much. However, going down in the domestic market was a very sad. It More
