Pretty much just another crime drama show, although it trends on the quirky side, similar to Rizzoli & Isles and Bones. The one thing about this show that keeps me watching though is Captain Hammer. Nathan Fillion could have a show about tying shoelaces and I would probably still watch.

You are objectively wrong. On what could we rate a television show and can we find better examples?

Plot: The Wire, Doc Martin
Structure: Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Alpha House
Comedy: Archer, Brickleberry
Mystery: Homeland, Happy Valley
Engaging characters: Garrow's Law
Suspense: Good Cop, Fargo, Fortitude
Cinematography: Gotham, Helix
Sound: Person of Interest

As you can see: In every way we could measure Castle there are examples of shows that do that better. Castle is less than average nonsense. The writing is predictable and stale. The characters are bland and uninteresting.

I've come to the conclusion that this is a show is about two psychopaths. You have two people who week after week are tortured, shot, stabbed, kidnapped, beaten or in some other manner nearly killed, yet, afterwards it's a romantic dinner, some sexual innuendos and work as usual the following morning. These are two sick twisted individuals.

good show, but it would be nothing without Nathan Fillion's fantastic charm

I think I'll give this show a go since it looks like it ended before all the politically correct BS started after 2016. Any warnings would be helpful before I get to involved. And done. I enjoyed this show a lot. Ending was, well, I'm just saying.

Decent drama cop show, enjoyed watching it. I thing the ending was worth a little more thinking about rather than this, but oh well.

For 8 years this has been one of my favorite shows. The charisma and childlike curiosity of Rick "Castle" is entirely enjoyable, and it was joyous to see the interactions with Kate, her typical procedure-centric attitude which occasionally revealed a similar mischievous persona underneath.

At some times this show was a standard (good) police procedural "murder of the week" type, but occasionally let itself stretch and entertain more fantastical story-lines. Secret underground bunkers stretching across NYC, a man who couldn't die, a hundred year battle against satanic cultists, a sword-fighting riddle hunt, and my favorite episode with actual ninjas.

Given the amazing cast of characters and story it was the greatest regret (and shock) to hear this show was canceled. It was obvious the showrunners didn't expect the cancellation either, as the season 8 finale ended up becoming the series finale, and it wasn't pretty. The show ended with a scene tacked onto the episode aftermath with only a voiceover and written screen message saying "7 years later". Makes me incredibly sad to have the show end this way, but I can say without hesitation that these 8 seasons are entirely worth watching. Sit tight and enjoy.

This show should really be titled “Beckett” because it is really about the growth of Beckett.

Castle is a classic case of a show overstaying its welcome. The first few seasons were great and it went downhill quick after that. The eighth season was horrible and the ending to the series was a joke -- the end of the seventh season was actually a pretty good end for the series, but they had to go on and that just ruined in.
