The legend of the Four Dragons and the origin of the land has been passed down for generations in the land of Kouka. Currently, Hiryuu Palace has no one else next in line for the throne other than the fifteen year old princess, Yona, who had been raised with care. Finally, the night of her sixteenth birthday arrives. She expects it to be a wonderful day spent with her peace-loving father, Il, her servant and friend Hak, and her cousin Soo-won, who she had feelings for... However... That night, Yona goes to visit her father to tell him how she really feels, because he opposes to her getting married to Soo-won. However, when she gets to her room, she encounters a shocking truth. The destinies of Yona and the Four Dragons entwine in this period drama fantasy romance!

It was another great Shoujo anime with Shoujo part being in the minimum. Story was very well developed. Characters were very well created and the Yona's Character Development was really something to watch this anime for. Action was in the minimum so those who are looking forward to Hak fighting the Dragons would be disappointed. For me the most disappointing part was that they didn't provided any closure to the story. I would definitely love to see future works of this show, if not then I'll definitely read the manga.

Overall, I respect this show for what it is and the themes it presents. However, it has a more filler and exposition than I'd like to stretch out the core story. It is also quite immature and some of the character motivations are overly simplistic and boring. Perhaps better for a young adult audience rather than myself.

I did the mistake by reading the manga first, now I am frustrated over the details that they dropped or changed due to fit the anime. That's why it's scored lower for me. All in all it's a fab anime, but I would take the time to read the manga too

Mini-update to my previous post for the show... It's AMAZING. Watch this NOW!! The show only got better and better (until it sadly ended... for now). This is definitely not your traditional shoujo show. It has a great mix of that light shoujo humor that we all love along with some great animated More

We're up to episode 7 with Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona) and it has been one of the most pleasant surprises for me this season. Yona of the Dawn is being animated by Studio Peirrot and I know that they got a lot of flack for Tokyo Ghoul (among other shows), so I was a bit hesitant to start More
