It's kind of insane how badly this movie fumbles what _should_ be an easy premise. The main couple have a fight in the days leading up to Christmas, and then have to pretend for their visiting families that everything is still alright. But the problem is, they don't go _nearly_ far enough with it. The "argument" that the couple had was completely reasonable and calm. It was a minor disagreement at worst. Coming to the conclusion that they need to take a break from each other after that milquetoast conversation is ridiculous. Of course, after the fact, they treat the "argument" as if it had been much more serious than it actually was. Most of the rest of this movie's problems stem from the fact that the main conflict was far less impactful than it should've been. If they had had a screaming match and started to hate each other's guts, then it would've been a _much_ more entertaining movie, watching them having to keep their cool and pretend they still liked each other while also dealing with their families' craziness. Then they would slowly learn that they actually still love each other over the course of the movie. Come on, people! It's not hard to write these! It's not like any of them are all that original, anyways. Also, the Mr. Christmas winner played Liz's brother, rather than being the male lead himself. That was a mistake. I thought he did a better job than the lead dude did.
