I can't actually give this any sort of "rating" as I never watched more than the first few minutes (seconds?) of it. Let me say that, although "found footage" movies have never been my favorite, I _can_ - and do - watch them if (1) the storyline is good enough and (2) the "vidcam movement" is tolerable. In the case of _August Underground_, neither was the case. The film has a 40% rating here on Trakt, a 3.5 rating (out of a possible 10) on IMDB, and a 48% Audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Suffice to say, this isn't a movie that's going to captivate anyone with its lure of storyline or theatrical ability. If you're just looking for violence, you might be able to sit through this, but after starting it, I "fast-forwarded" (or whatever the terminology is for streaming video today) through numerous points in the stream and it's obvious that the "vidcam" quality never changes from the awful, jittery, low-resolution camera that you see in the opening few seconds. This makes the "gore" or violence - if that's your bag - pretty much impossible to see, as the quality is so bad. After the first few seconds - and multiple reviews on multiple sites - I saw no reason to sit through this...even at a very short 71 minutes. I can watch violence and gore, but I want to at least enjoy a viable story behind it, and I want to at least be able to tell what it is I'm watching...not guess about it. I'm not going to waste my evening on this; there are too many options out there to choose from.
