weird.

Some great names, a great sounding script, but it never really works

This is a very odd film. I've seen it three times and also once with the commentary track, and I am still unsure how I feel about it. Some gorgeous artistic choices, some strange plot choices. The opening is beautiful. Stylistically it is fantastic and the music is wonderful, but the way the story has both things I really enjoyed (Stephen's daily routine, the snow-globe sequence) and things that made me slightly uncomfortable (basically the whole scene with Attila) makes it hard to say outright that I liked it. There were lots of clever small things that I noticed on repeat watching, and like I said before the artistic side of it is fabulous. There are multiple times I wished I could just tell Bunny to sit down and not do whatever his latest madcap scheme was. I sympathise with Stephen over his feelings on semi-colons. Watching this film is certainly An Experience, and I couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards but it's a film that probably isn't for everyone.
