Butchers - Comments & Tips
Expect a franchise including the titles Body Baker and Chainsaw Maker. This film is well made but ultimately, another excuse to rub our faces in violence.
It had it's moments. Of course you can't have a backwoods horror movie without characters doing absolutely stupid stuff to get themselves killed.
Grim, a very bleak movie, quite well done I thought, don't really have much else to say about it other than there are better versions of the same theme and there are much worse versions too.
Like an open knife wound: simple, efficient and bloody. Butchers (kind of a Canadian Wolf Creek) is proof that it doesn't take a lot to make a good horror film. Just a basic story, no glaring WTFs and a lot of gore and it's in the bag.
Another hidden gem. A simple but effective take on the killer family genre in a same vein as the TCM movies. And, I''ll be honest, I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed the original TCM. The killers were believable and the actors played their roles well (Special note to the brothers, both actors really played their roles well). The kills were done well, not too over the top but still brutal. The only part I would have any real complaint about was the reveal of '"Oxford'" the brother in the stall. They kept building him up throughout the movie and it fell really flat when he first appeared on screen. The effects job on him was very mediocre and he was not at all intimidating. Other than that though, the movie fared really well. It will definitely be on my list of movies for when I''m in the mood for killers.
