The story's intentions seem clear in its exploration of the fullness of old age, despite difficulties and ungrateful children. Carmen Maura's performance is vibrant, and she has recently been taking risks in her roles. However, the script's lack of substance—unable to avoid clichés, resorting to emphatic dialogue, and succumbing to mediocre sentimentality and cloying do-goodism—ultimately undermines the film's intentions, leaving it superficial and affected.
