Captain Hareblower - Comments & Tips

This was a real surprise because I've actually bumped into a really good Looney Tunes cartoon that I don't recall ever seeing before. I'm sure I probably did when I was young but I have no recollection of it. It's another Bugs and Yosemite Sam on the high seas deal and there's a lot of cannons and explosions per usual. Sam is smoked and charred into a variety of forms here, and it's always hilarious. There's a repeated gag from an earlier cartoon where Bugs throws a match into a gun powder room. This time though, it's an extended gag that ends up actually biting Bugs, believe it or not! The thing about this cartoon that I noticed immediately was how great it looked. There's some nice drawings of the ships as they pass each other in battle and some really fine underwater art of Sam swimming (in a striped swimsuit, of course). This is another one that I can't believe has never been put onto a Looney Tunes DVD or Blu-ray collection.

Usual Bugs vs Yosemite shenanigans really, just with a pirate them. A little cute and there's a gag or two that's funny but this isn't super special. Classic "if you like the Looney Tunes already, you'll probably like this" moment.
