Overview

With his one-eyed eye, his imposing build and his almost sixty years of age, Raphael knows that he scares people. He lives with his mother in a pavilion located on the vast estate of the manor of which he is the guardian. Since the owners died, he leads a quiet existence. Everything changes the night when the heiress, Garance, returns to the family home.

[My French Film Festival '25] It emerges from the beginning with a fairy tale tone, the introduction through an overture of a story that is set in an indefinite time and that speaks about art and emotion, through a tale that has echoes of Beauty and the Beast. A castle, the grotesque-looking man and the lady are rewritten with different personalities from traditional stories, through his sensitivity and her madness. A contemplative film that is nourished by poetry and elegant, romanesque music, which manage to create a story about how art can be an expression of life.
