Far from the Madding Crowd - Comments & Tips
Enjoyable but needed more character depth and a clearer time frame.
it's watchable, really like the cast, but the story is meh. the choices she makes are frustrating to watch just like the ones from the other famous Miss Everdeen. but the movie is well made so I'll give it 7/10
Imperfect but overall pretty solid period drama. Carey Mulligan is excellent. The soldier role was not well integrated into the story and Tom Sturridge was not particularly well cast in the role. Sheen and Schoenarts were fine and the direction was good, definitely a nice looking film. The film definitely rushed past and glossed over certain story elements. If you like historical costume dramas, it's a fine choice.
Not a review exactly, the screen froze twice during play, and it was just beginning to get good! Too bad..would have liked to have watched the whole movie...not impressed at all!! #ShiftvW8
Absolutely ridiculous story line. Maybe this was a classics adaptation. I have not read the book. Feels to me like it was written by a 70-year-old virgin, imaging things, just like 50 Shades of Gray.
That sheep scene fucked me up so much. Jesus Christ. It was obvious he'd
shoot the dog
but I still couldn't believe it when he did. It kind of tainted everything else he did afterwards. And everything about
Boldwood
was just so unbelievably sad. I mean, he was so nice and good and slightly stalkery but damn it made me sad.
They even cut out the part from the book where she actually agreed to marry him shortly before he shot Troy so he didn't even get that satisfaction.
Quite an entertaining period drama. Great acting by all cast members and beautiful scenery.
Based on Thomas Hardyโs classic novel, Far From the Madding Crowd is a compelling tale of romance and perseverance. The story follows a young woman named Bathsheba Everdene who inherits her fatherโs farm and soon attracts a number of suitors, including a wealthy businessman and a military officer, who are drawn to her fierce independence. Carey Mulligan gives a strong performance, as does her co-star Matthias Schoenaerts, and they both have good chemistry together. Additionally, the sets and costume are incredible well-done; feeling authentic to the time period. However, the plotโs rather formulaic and predictable. Yet while itโs a tad familiar, Far From the Maddening Crowd is a captivating film.
If this is what it's actually like to be "not like other girls" and have men fall at your feet, I'm thankful no one loves me lmaooo
Also, I was wondering how we were gonna get rid of that devil soldier. Rolled my eyes when he lived.

Also also, it took me until the last 10 minutes to actually like this movie and understand the point. One was a man who wanted to control her, one was a man willing to be subservient to her (bro, my heart kinda broke for Boldwood tho), but the one meant for her was her true equal. What a fantastic conclusion! Too bad the other 1.5 hours were boring af
