[Fantasia '25] There's no denying that it's an entertaining and appropriately grotesque film, if the viewer doesn't mind scatological humor or black comedy about dead animals, although it has the virtue of being less savage than it could have been. But at the same time, it feels rather empty, a diversion that works on the surface but doesn't seem to have much depth. It's the story of a man pushed to the limit by his own decisions, but there's also a redemption through suffering, a sacrifice that requires going all the way to the bottom, literally, to find a way out. Being such a seemingly petty character from the start, he prevents the protagonist from falling into simple caricature in order to acquire glimmers of humanity.
