Does everyone know the crazy story of how the BBC created this doc, but then wouldn’t broadcast it because they couldn’t find an example to include of how Israel has suffered from having it’s doctors targetted (and, so, it was finally sold rather than harm their standing on impartiality)? I already know a lot of it’s content, but as a footnote to Empire… kind’a funny.

[Channel 4] A necessary and visceral documentary about the pattern of attacks on Gaza's healthcare system as part of a strategy to annihilate healthcare professionals, not least by destroying buildings. Most shocking are the personal testimonies of doctors who have been detained and tortured, along with those who have been killed, under rather vague accusations of collaborating with Hamas. It's such a stark reflection of a war fraught with cruelty that the Israeli army's vague justifications seem like a joke.

A harrowing but necessary watch. Israel’s systematic targeting of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure and personnel is undeniable. From invading hospitals and leaving NICU babies to decompose in their incubators, to abducting surgeons and doctors and torturing them to death. The film follows the stories of a few Doctors in Gaza. How they were forced to evacuate from one hospital to another, how they lost their families and patients, how they survived Israeli forces' kidnapping, and how some were abducted again by the end of the film. The film also details the kinds of torture and violence inflicted on medical staff, starting with Israel's massacre of 15 paramedics, and burying their bodies and ambulance cars. The IDF denied that the event ever happened until footage found on one of the deceased medics’ phone proved otherwise. Palestinian Doctors were tortured, sometimes to death, in Israel’s Sde Teiman facility. Where footage of Israeli soldiers sodomising a detainee to death was leaked. The accounts of the Israeli guards and doctors validate those claims. Yet you’ll have people downvoting and calling this film a propaganda piece for documenting Israeli war crimes. No genocide in history has been more documented, more confessed to, yet more denied than the Gaza genocide.
