Comedian Miguel Gila's humour was ironic and surreal, while this representation of his experience in the Spanish Civil War ends up being corny. It doesn't seem clear that trying to show reality through his absurd narratives can be adequately supported by a traditional narrative, even though the film tries to show in the final credits that the narrator speaks with extracts from his monologue about the war. There are references to **The heifer** (Luis García Berlanga, 1985) and it tries to recover a certain spirit of Spanish comedy, but it is as entertaining as it is unsuccessful in its condition as a tribute.
