Memory Hotel - User Reviews
End of the war, the Russians arrive. A couple that wanted to flee to America enter an hotel with their daughter, Sophie. Inside a Scharf, a nazi officer and Beckman, a Hitler youth guy. Wassili, a russian soldier falls through the roof. The parents are killed, everybody is hurt, and looks like several lost their memory (at least completely for Sophie). The main story takes place later in the hotel. Sophie works in the kitchen, Wassili manages it, and it serves to feed russian troops. Not sure what Scharf is doing, Beckman in hiding underneath inside the walls, stealing some of the food that Sophie sends up from the kitchen. He is clearly mentally retarded, but not clear whether that comes from the incident. For a while the whole focus is on these missing pieces of meal. At some point the Russian general wants Wassili to marry Sophie. And then she discovers Beckman and slowly regains her memory. It's stop motion, the character design is underwhelming, as is the animation, at the most basic level. But mainly, oh my god, it was so boring. Literally painful to watch. The combination of the ugly graphics and the uninteresting story made it difficult to keep my eyes open, and at no moment was there anything that would have encouraged me to do so.
