Overview
Simon Chambers is shooting a film in India when his uncle David calls him with a message of doom: “I think I may be dying.” What the viewer doesn’t yet know is that David, an eccentric gay actor, is a total drama queen, and a Shakespeare-lover who has grown old on a diet of attention and applause. Chambers returns to London to look after his uncle and capture his final stages of life on camera.

[Sheffield '23] Representing the last act in the life of an aging actor who fell short of great glory, the film addresses loneliness in old age, but also the frustrations of caring for elderly relatives. Somehow, the sight of near death gives David an inner peace and a claim to life, and the documentary does much in its ability to convey, even in its most poignant moments, this passion for living. It is a close and intimate portrait, at the same time funny and moving, about the celebration of life.
