Oh, Ramona! - Comments & Tips
It was a fun movie, not the best thing ever but yeah, you get what you expect The ending was kinda sh*it though
Maybe they just do things differently in Romania. For a modern American audience, this weirdly terrible film - cleverly staged, smartly shot, put together with care and skill, and drowning in despicable clichés and wretched loathing - seems like a terrible miscalculation. The cast is worthy of a better project, many of the visuals are wonderful, and yet it''s a cruel, dishonest, fat-shaming, gay-shaming, difference-hating, trampling mess of '"No ha ha it''s just a joke we don''t mean it'" moments that do not persuade. Are we meant to understand that we all live in the gutter, so this talk of stars is just delusion? Honestly, I don''t care. I''m willing to believe that this makes a lot more sense in a different culture, but while it wanders through mine - Netflix releases it in English only - it fails hard. It''s a sex comedy with no sex and a love story without sympathy, empathy, or honesty. In an early scene an earnestly-romantic kid has his love fantasy derailed by a giant turd in a public toilet. That''s the whole experience of this movie, in a ... well, in a nutshell, if you know what I mean.
What decade is this movie from? This movie would have been right at home in the eighties, but we have left all that BS behind us. Leave this movie in the dark corner it is trying to drag itself out from and lets move on.
Stylishly made, and occasionally enjoyable. HOWEVER, in 2019 we shouldn''t have a reliance on fat shaming for humour, and being guilty of this, the film is ultimately offensive and puerile, and worthy of being blacklisted.
A sub-average looking Romanian kid with absolutely no muscle mass is trying to score with two 7/10 chicks in a bad Romanian soft-porn fantasy shot in a sweaty Guy Ritchiesque style in Brasov and the Romanian seaside. Despite all odds and logic his efforts are crowned with success while being beaten to pulp by various random NPCs on several occasions. An ending so terrible that one day later I simply do not remember what it was. Good jokes are few and far between yet it is somehow borderline entertaining. I understand the bad average score is not because of the above lack of qualities but due to it not being woke enough. True the forced American accent of the characters clash horribly with the rampant fat and gay shaming (the norm in Romanian society and Eastern Europe in general) so it would have been much better if they kept the movie in original Romanian (even if the two lead actresses are German and British) as the forced American dubbing is cringy af. But I am never going to score a movie on wokeness factor as that is just as dumb as the main character.
Muito bom, comédia meio que romântica, com tom sexual adolescente, recomendo
I can''t believe this is from Netflix. The amount of fat shaming and '"subtle'" queerbaiting is unbelievable. This movie could have done well two decades ago.Should we talk about how gross the sexual innuendos were? It looks like a knock off version of Alex Strangelove. Bye.
It wasn''t good, it was boring, was no funny, but the story was interesting
Really, that''s the kind of ending this should get? Wow, that was lame; I had hoped for something so much better.
I have to say - and I know it may sound stupid - I had a fun time watching this thing! It has its moments. The story doesn''t really matter on this one. If you just want to see some light comedy, this one could work for you!
