Papillon - Comments & Tips
This is a difficult movie to watch. Very slow paced but very effective in depicting the inhuman prison conditions. Not for everyone, but rewarding if you have the energy to connecti with it through the 151 minutes that it lasts
image and sound 3/5. It starts well but then it does not maintain the level although it''s fine, I expected more
Awesome movie. You get to experience history while following a good story. Despite the slow pace I was engaged from start to finish.
A pretty dreadful watch, primarily because I didn't care a whit about any of these characters and the viewer is forced to spend so much time with them. (Hoffman plays another Ratso knockoff, yet again, this time squinting through a really irritating pair of glasses.)
An excellent movie with brilliant performances by McQueen and Hoffman. It depicts essentially the horrific conditions prisoners faced in the French colonies in the 1930s. An exceptional story about human resilience and the strive for freedom.
Based on a true story about a prisoner on a Caribbean island.
I didn't like the third act. I didn't buy anything that happened after the escape.
Good film. I really liked the acting, especially from Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. The downside is that the movie is a bit on the longer side, and can drag in the middle.
