Although not a '"great movie'", RE is still enjoyable if you are the type of person who can appreciate one and a half hours of horror-action without much depth!

I have never played the games - it just wasn´t my thing. I´m not much into that zombie theme but I think Resident Evil is, in the context of it´s timeframe, a well made action-horror-scifi movie.

My ultimate guilty pleasure series. Everyone talks trash about it but it's so much fun! Growing up I loved every single entry in the franchise and I'm still having a blast rewatching it after all those years. Is the acting bad? No, it's standard for how most action only movies from that era were. Same about CGI. Ofc now it looks dated, but so do most movies from that time. Back then everyone thought it looked great. It's 25 years old movie, you can't expect current visuals. The shit thrown at this franchise is simply unjustified. Resident Evil never pretended to be anything other than what it was... Zombie horror B flick for fans of action movies during which you can turn off your brain and just enjoy. If you don't like that, just don't watch. And definitely don't watch the whole franchise and complain about every single movie like so many people do 😃

IMO this movies is seriously overrated! First of all the acting - it is appalling and I'm not only talking about the stupid Zombies or the supporting actors, but the lead actors as well. All of them! My god this is bad. Next CGI: for a movie with a budget of 33$ Mio this is just sad. The actors couldn't have eaten all the budget so where did the money go to? Definately not into CGI. Most certainly not into the cardboard film set and filming locations... The story ... well, if you haven't played the games it might be alright to you but it really doesn't deserve the title of the games. Sorry but this movie is a joke, with maybe 5 min of decent scenes otherwise very unwatchable.

Maybe it's because I know what the series is like later, but I try not to let that change how I feel about movies. The intro is pretty good and the lab is a good place to have it go down, and the zombie dogs look awesome.

Based on the popular video game, Resident Evil is a fun and thrilling action/horror film. When a biological accident contaminates a secret underground laboratory a rescue team is sent in to regain control of the site. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez give excellent performances, and prove to be strong, capable action stars. The special effects are also pretty good, and the story has a solid pace; as the team moves from level to level and faces new obstacles. Frightfully entertaining, Resident Evil delivers a number of chills and thrills.

As far as i''m concerned the best one in the series. After this one and the whole [spoiler] '"Alice going android mode'"[/spoiler] the movies got a lot worse.

Zombies and creatures for the video game film.

Wife and I played all the games - we saw this in the theater and were nudging each other at Easter eggs. It's this a good movie with great special effects? No, but like junk food, we enjoy it anyway

The first and, to my mind best, movie of the franchise based on the popular video game. It is a solid SciFi action movie with a good cast. And frankly, Milla Jovovovich is always nice to look at ;-)

i forgot how much i loved resident evil. this was always one of my favorite shows growing up. i had a crazy obsession with zombies and milla jovovich was such a badass. is it great in a technical sense? no. the acting is dramatic and yet still emotionally flat. the plot is your average hero vs. undefeatable enemy. it's nothing exceptional. but it does bring back so many great memories and for that it will always be one of my favorite zombie films.

Not a great movie, but still a very enjoyable watch

This is one of my favorite. Although I am not a fan of the resident evil franchise, I am a total fan of this Mila Jovovich series. It is not about her. It is a Resident Evil movie. It is based on a game. A game with zombies. It might be childish, but I still love this movie and rewatch it with better quality. Soundtrack is also great. Same of my favorites songs are there. I've read Resident Evil's fans doesn't like this collection and I cant blame them since I am not aware of the game. But if you are into zombie-apocalypse mood, you must watch it. And the whole collection.

6.5/10 Good action zombie flick and this series just gets better and better as we move along. What I love is how these Awesome movies do their own thing from the games which by the way I own them all. But even though these movies do and tell their own story they still include the set piece standouts from the games nearly frame by frame. These movies are so incredibly entertaining and I absolutely Love Milla as Alice and for me to own them all on blu ray boxset I know I am in for a fun and exciting time. Bring On The Superpowers

What an amazing movie. They really don’t make them like this anymore. The jump scares are classic, the overacting is perfect… it works!

It's a good adaption of the original game, following the first hours of what happened inside the umbrella corp that caused the outbreak, all the aspects are perfect whether it's a soundtrack, atmosphere or choosing a new badass protagonist

I just watched my very first "Resident Evil" movie and appropriately, it was this one. The series is usually trashed overall but those opinions couldn't be based entirely on this initial entry because it wasn't too bad. There was nothing original about it, really. When you unwrap it, it's a lot like any other zombie movie and zombies do nothing for me. The whole virus/antidote trope is a bore but everything looks pretty good and Mila was much more than just another tough-as-nails female ass-kicker. She's actually got some softness and even naivety, at least for a while. Her discovery of her capabilities is one of the high points. The CGI is wonky but what should we expect from something made in 2002 (I know, "Jurassic Park" perhaps). Watching this has done nothing to make me want to see any of the other RE movies. In fact, Mila's movie poster images will likely have more to do with me ever watching another one of these.

Grotesquely underrated. When people say there are no good video game movies, I slap them upside the head with this. Non-stop action, great practical effects and a metal soundtrack that slays… This is the movie by which I judge all action / horror movies. And, oh yeah, I'd put up the first 8 minutes of this movie against any you could name.

This Resident Evilmovies are not just the biggest jokle in cinematic history. THey are the worst movies ever done. And they litterly said fuck off all fans! SOOOOO BAD! Lets hope for this new take on thios that coming later this year!!! DONT RUIN THIS AGAIN! Like ALice and co. Damn! FUck ytou!

The '"Get Through'" the Resident Evil Series Project of 2021 - # 1 of 6 --- I had forgotten how closely Resident Evil captures the '"feel'" of the games. It''s not that clever story-wise, but it has some pretty good jump scares, and I tensed up more than once, even though I have seen this one numerous times before. Most of the actors do a decent enough job with the material they had, and even though, as I said, the story is not really that clever, it works good enough to drive the action I also think it was a wise choice to not solely use characters from the games (almost non at all in fact), as that fact makes it easier to see this movie as separate from the games rather than a part of the main '"game storyline'". The effects are dated, but what do you expect. The movie is almost 20 years old. All in all, I had a good time rewatching Resident Evil, but I dread what''s ahead. ...and yeah...the dogs are...something else. That''s for sure.
