R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead - Comments & Tips
Goosebumps After Dark (now with a Pumpkin-Necronomicon!) It never tries to be scary scary, and that’s its charm. The movie keeps everything pure PG no T'amp;A to speak of, not even a cheeky wink and the blood never really flows. The gore’s so mild you could eat dinner through it. But what it lacks in shock, it makes up for in soul: every frame drips with 1990s Goosebumps nostalgia, and the soundtrack absolutely nails the mood with synths and chimes that feel pulled from an old Nickelodeon bumper. By the time the “pumpkin-bound spellbook” shows up, you’re either grinning or groaning but either way, you’re in the right kind of Halloween trance. Verdict: A cozy, corny little scare that trades blood for autumn color and heart. Feels like curling up under a blanket after trick-or-treating and flipping on SNICK.
Family Friendly Halloween Horror for our Future Horror Fanatics... Unhappy youngster makes an appearance, and then we have odd happenings start, along with odd behavior. This is such a Funtastic story, with a family-friendly Goosebumps vibe going on. The Creeper is so far beyond terrifying that he's absolutely and beautifully hideous. Excellent Halloween Film.
R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead (2025) was the perfect lil' Halloween treat. (With Jem Garrard at the helm, I'm not at all surprised, as they've proven time and time again to make highly enjoyable Tubi Original bangers) This is a great 'gateway horror' for pre-teens and young adults, and I wouldn't be shocked if it becomes a Holiday staple some years down the line.
