The Decline - Comments & Tips

Decline lives up to the name. Fast movie with light entertainment. Quite holes in the script and plot twists that don''t work as the director wanted. In times of crisis like this, with no news in the movies, it''s a reasonable movie to see on any given night.

_The Decline_ is Canadian survivalist horror at its pretty goodest. It''s like a birthday cake in not your favorite flavor: it looks good, is well made and, even if it isn''t memorable, it''s still a piece of cake.

''The Decline'' is excellent, though I would''ve loved it to have been longer and had depth added to it all. First things first, I love the cinematography here; done by Christophe Dalpé. The whole film looks magnificent. The premise takes a fascinating look into the human psychology, even if it is a little bit of an undercooked look. It builds tension nicely and has a few surprising moments. The acting is very good across the board. Réal Bossé (Alain) and Guillaume Laurin (Antoine) give noteworthy performances, but it''s Marie-Evelyne Lessard (Rachel) who stands out the most to me. She is fantastic, as she really grows into the role as the film goes on. As noted at the top, it could''ve been great to have seen more - have it last, for example, for 1hr 43mins as opposed to 1hr 23mins. More character development at the beginning would''ve went far. I was entertained thoroughly, I highly recommend you watch this.

Oh dear, this isn''t very good. I watched it based on the positive reviews here, but wouldn''t recommend it if you have other movies to watch 5/10
