Charles Dexter Ward's wife enlists the help of a private detective to find out what her husband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family for centuries. The husband is a chemical engineer, and the smells from his experiments (and the delivery of what appear to be human remains at all hours) are beginning to arouse the attention of neighbors and local law enforcement officials.

6.5/10 Well done Lovecraftian horror noir. Chris Sarandon as always acts to his fullest potential. Jane Sibbet might be the worst part about this, 1 sided, and unemotional.

Pretty great lost little Lovecraft adaptation. I think it's the closest to the source material I've seen. It's a strange, morbid little film noir.

**The Resurrected** is a slow-burn, detective, mystery movie from 1991 and based on a book by _Lovecraft_ called _The Case of Charles Dexter Ward_. The acting is solid, and the practical effects are quite impressive, especially considering the movie's relatively low budget.
