"You know that feeling when you see a new movie and you feel you have seen everything before?!? Well...The Secret Life of Pets gives me that feeling in spades. It's not that it looks or sounds bad, it's not that characters aren't funny, but everything feels so damn uninspired... The voices are the worst offender. Everything sounds the same, and you get the feeling the voice actors were very bored when doing this movie. The animation gets a pass as it's not bad, but there's a whole lot of movies out there at the moment that does things better. The story isn't all that good, but at least it wasn't all that boring. I actually laughed out loud at a couple of gags. The thing is...I've seen most of the gags in other movies. I can't really recommend this one, but if you have someone around you that wants to see it, you won't die from watching it..."

"I found this movie to be very charming... and I'm not even a pet owner. Easily as good, if not better than "Zootopia" and "Finding Dory" this year, and FAR better than "Angry Birds". I laughed a lot at this movie and my 7 & 9 year old kids thought it was "awesome". Great voice talent involved and the animators do a great job creating the idealized New York City (i.e. clean, beautiful, & full of happy people). The two biggest tests for movies obviously aimed at children are these: 1) Is it too long? & 2) Will the parents go nuts with boredom or irritation watching it with their kids? To that I can answer, 1) It's only 90 minutes & 2) I think there might be more things for adults to enjoy in this movie than kids. I was thoroughly entertained & fully expect to add this one to our family movie collection later this year. There's also a Minions animated short at the beginning that is slow to get going, but pretty hilarious by the end."

"The film was okay but it walks a road well travelled... animal gets lost, its friends try to find it, wicked animal catchers etc. There are some funny moments but I expected more. "

Anyone who is fortunate enough to share their life with a companion animal will undoubtedly get a kick out of the latest Illumination animated effort, “The Secret Life of Pets.” The film soars when it focuses on animals interacting with their huma More

**Street pets versus the house pets! A day adventure in a big city!**

Animation films always fascinate me, because of its varieties. Even animals can be the heroes and villains. So this kind of new story perspective, including technology, what makes adults too can enjoy them like the kids does. T More

Very cute intro and some adorable animals, but the leads (voiced by Louis C.K. and Eric Stonestreet) were the worst part of the film... even if they did have a couple funny moments. What makes this worth viewing, however, are Gidget (Jenny Slate), Snowball (Kevin Hart), and Tiberius (Albert Brooks). More

Meh. Funny. Acting was alright. I liked Kevin Hart as the rabbit. But it is definitely just for kids and the ending was very sudden.
