Opening scene: Brilliant. I was laughing from the very opening. The title explains it all, folks: _Tokyo GORE Police_ (emphasis on "gore"). Do not watch this if you're looking for some kind of half-serious "action" police flick; this isn't that. What this IS, however, is hilariously fun and entertaining Japanese over-the-top stupid humor that makes you laugh your buns off. So much weird, twisted stuff here that you can NOT take this movie as anything other than what it is: pure, campy, gruesome hilarity. _"How much red paint can we go through in one film?"_ It's almost as if, however, they _wanted_ to make some kind of "story" here but it just didn't work. (Well, for ME, it didn't.) It was just so outrageously, violently STUPID that there was no way you could take this seriously. I've not watched "animé" since I was a kid (and that was when it was just another type of cartoon - i.e. _Speed Racer_ ) so I really don't understand the current obsession with it but I suppose the people who are really into animé would get into _Tokyo Gore Police_ as some kind of "serious" movie. However, it's laughably awful, exceedingly violent, and in the closing minutes, tries to wrap itself up as some type of serious movie. If buckets of blood, severed limbs, gouged eyeballs, a vagina that turns into a crocodile mouth, or a penis that becomes some type of gigantic machine-gun are your bag, then you'll probably really enjoy this. Apart from those particular fetishes, however, you probably want to just keep surfing...

*Tokyo* ☛​***GORE***☚ *Police* *RoboCop* meets *Kill Bill* meets *Evil Dead II* if it was done by Cronenberg. Over-the-top isn't enough to describe how over-the-top this was. This is B-movie ridiculousness done right and it's so funny. There's a little bit of blood and gore in this movie... there's so much blood coming out of bodies that if you're standing in the same room as someone who's bleeding you might drown! The costumes and makeup are cosplay level but there's still creativity displayed on-screen and lots of practical effects. Even more creativity with all the disturbing weird twisted stuff and battle mechanics they came up with, stuff you come up with when you're doing acid or something. I wasn't ready for the auction part with Snail Girl and the chair thing, those were soo weird. The battle with the SM "dog" was peak and so many other memorable bloody moments throughout. Love the long weird slow-motion "i'm so cool" character poses. The concept for the Engineers was actually interesting but it's a shame they kinda brushed it off by giving it a half-baked explanation. The saturated colors make this film look stunning, I dig the camerawork, and the soundtrack kicks. It was a little too long. Overall this was very dumb but also very fun, most likely even more fun on a not-so-sober night with some friends. >*"Divine Punishment!"*
