It is in over 95% an exact 1-to-1 translation of the text to screen, with all the benefits and downsides that come with that, not really "adapted for screen" almost at all. I would probably recommend for most people to read the story before watching, as that is the medium in which I think the tale works best, especially given that the story is mostly dialogue – it is not too long and can easily be found online. Nevertheless, the film is a beautiful illustration to the short story, and everyone involved in the production did a wonderful job. Plus, you get a great original song at the end. I am truly grateful that such works of love can still be made today.
Worth the wait. (I have summed up this film in three words but unfortunately trackt will not allow such concise and to-the-point ‘comments’ It’s not even called a review, it’s called a comment, and I know of lots of comments that are 5 words or less, like “no comment” - anyway, sorry about the rant but it’s required for comments on here )
