Insights

Review Summary

Pros: emotional, intimate story; strong lead performance; striking space visuals | Cons: slow, quiet pacing; science details debated; romance feels thin

Will You Like This?

Youโ€™ll likely enjoy this if you want a small-scale, emotional space story mixing loneliness, humor, and romance rather than nonstop action; Not for you if you need hard-science realism or a fast pace like The Martian.

This is very subjective, but it's one of the best things I've seen in a while. I genuinely laughed and cried like no other movie. It's not perfect, but it's very real.

I was very bored while watching it. It's about the last human trying to survive in space, then they hear on the radio that someone else is alive, they try to meet up, etc. It's very clichรฉ, and whoever translated the subtitles for this film shouldn't do it again. The acting is bad, the effects are passable, the script is slow and classic. Is it watchable? Maybe if you like space-themed films. To be honest, I wanted to give it a chance because it resembled The Martian, but it doesn't even come close to The Martian. In short, it's a bad film.

Great movie ๐ŸŽฌ I found it a bit long-winded at times ๐Ÿ˜… But that actually fits the theme perfectly ๐ŸŒŒ The ending I really didn't see coming at all! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Earth is destroyed? Oh, okay I need two years to fly to Jupiter, meanwhile the debris goes whoosh and arrives there in like "ten minutes" too.

One person (or just a very few) alone in a spaceship, a cabin, or a hotel? Thatโ€™s exactly the kind of movie made for me! I love movies like Moon, The Shining, Cloverfield Lane, The Hateful 8 or this one, where you just watch how people survive in isolation in a small space. Some might find that boring, but for me itโ€™s perfect.

There's a lot of hype around the film, but overall it's okay.

i think i should not review this without watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. or maybe do before and after. meanwhile, very human movie loved it!

Honestly not that bad, but the pitch when I saw it was opening much more interesting possibilities than a half-assed romance. It is very obvious when the message is
manufactured by the ship's AI
, but it would have been much more interesting if it had
invented her from the start
, for instance. Or maybe _something_ could have contacted him after witnessing the end of Earth. But no, it's just a girl. Also, in a future where there are cargos going around throwing waste on other planets, there is a single guy in the world having this job ? There exists only a single space vehicle, and a single space station. That's it. By the way, why would you dump waste on a small satellite when there is a giant gas planet on which it would make no difference nearby. Not only that but basically anything space related here is bullshit, specially anything related to time and distance. Not least being the emplacement of the station. It's supposed to be at a Lagrange point, I don't remember which one, but the closest one is about as far from Saturn as about half the Earth - Sun distance. Definitely not what we see. Anyway, again it's not that bad, but it's about a glorified episode of the outer limits.
