[Sheffield '25] This film features splendid photography by the director and Fabio Nascimento, which shows spectacular images of the Amazon while also capturing, in intense close-ups, the emotions reflected on the face of activist and government official Juma Xipaia. In this sense, it is often overwhelming, such as during the birth of her daughter, and establishes an almost poetic tone that nevertheless maintains its political charge. However, it is disappointing in its treatment of indigenous issues, without delving into the most important aspects or offering much information about the real conflicts, being much less relevant and less revealing than it aims to be.
