amazing. absolutely brilliant. it starts off very disjointed and kind of hard to follow but that only lasts for about 3 episodes. they are intriguing enough tho that it wont be too much of a chore to follow. then once they get to "present day" wow, just wow. theyre not too many of the trappings of what people think of when they think anime. this one is truly in a class of its own. thought-provoking, beautiful, intelligent, adult. this will definitely be on my list of shows i revisit from time to time.

im on ep 13 and i keep waiting for it to disappoint and it just never really does. this is seriously amazing. it will definitely be on my recommends list if it keeps anywhere near where its been.

In the first few episodes, I was pretty confused about everything that was happening and the story is a bit slow at first, but without doubt, it is one of the best animes I have ever seen, with a very well finished story. Amazing.

Shinsekai Yori (From The New World) is an absolutely fascinating series. As a series from the year 2012, it deals with extremely taboo themes such as: [spoiler]experimentation on the human genome and its consequences, same sex relationships, animal and human exploitation and relationships, and many others[/spoiler]. This series reminds me a lot of the anime "Parasyte" [spoiler]which dealt with similar themes concerning the relations between humans and other species[/spoiler]. The music and graphics are really original and they bring to life the atmosphere that the anime is trying to create. I still had a little trouble with the animation style that was chosen, but I got used to it very quickly. I was still quite surprised to see an anime without an opening. It's not a problem in itself, on the contrary, but that surprised me because it's quite rare to see that. I really don't want to spoil by writing this review so I invite you to try your luck and watch at least the first 4 episodes (the story really starts from the 4th episode) it's really worth it.
