No idea who Joe Cappa is but this show is weirdly endearing. It’s very on-the-nose with its sentimental tone, but it feels so genuine you can’t help but be wrapped up in it for 10 minutes. I find the humour comes from the extended shots of reactions rather than the situations they’re in.

I love Joe Cappa and I love this show. Major Beavis and Butthead vibes and the comedic timing is on point. Season 1 was definitely worse than the original 7 episodes but really blew me away with the increase in production value. The world really feels alive and expansive now compared to before. My main complaint is that Mom has a lot lower presence in these episodes than the youtube series. Episode 1 started off so strong but 2-9 felt like Mom was barely in it. They set up so many good points for Mom but didn't act on them all, with just mentioning her. Just didn't match the series' vibe as well as I thought it would, even though every episode is still uncanny. So glad this got picked up for a full show and I can't wait to see more!

Joe Cappa and his promotion from YouTube to network TV should be applauded for its unlikelihood alone. But I’m more impressed he managed to maintain the spirit of the web series despite the new platform. I suppose it’s more believable as Adult Swim is hosting it, but I can’t help but imagine Cappa fighting a bunch of stuffed shirts over some of the more obscure commentary. Or, I’m just hypnotized by my millennial sense of humor again. Give me more ridiculous nonsense!

I actually was surprised how much I liked this, given that i didn't care for the short series on YT. It's not only funny, but kind of heart warming in a way

You almost have to know Joe Cappa from YouTube to appreciate what’s going on here. This is the evolution of his web series. Watching that will prepare you for this - an expansion of those characters’ stories. Otherwise, the show will serve up a somewhat jarring experience. My advice would be to check out Joe Cappa first before passing judgement on his full length incarnation. Personally, I’m psyched to see where this truly homegrown series will go.
