The Lost Station Girls - Comments & Tips
Outstanding. Credible. Infuriating. Gripping. Shocking. Well-written and well-paced realism from France. And great acting all the way through. The bad guys are everywhere and nowhere and the frustration of plodding through the inadequacies of the investigating team, the old-school tech, the cultural biases are believable and strengthen the narrative purpose. I have seen different crime dramas this year, but none better.
[Disney+] The warning that the Perpignan disappearances are real but the investigation is entirely fictional reveals the nature of the series, but also its main weakness. It attempts to reinforce the feminist reflection on the crimes, focusing on an officer whose police career seems unbelievable, while surrounding her with stereotypical characters. It is more interesting when it focuses on the mother of one of the victims, but it misses the opportunity to build a solid true-crime story due to its lack of focus and a soporific pace.
