Splinter Cell: Deathwatch - Comments & Tips
Missed opportunity not getting Michael Ironside.
Honestly the show is better then expected and Sam Fisher comes across as the Splinter Cell when it kicks off. Like everyone else who played the game from back in the day, it honestly did it justice and even as a standalone show it's honestly pretty good. Not a lot of background story but you jump right into and get the gist of it while watching the show, and honestly I liked the action and animation in the show with decent story telling. Overall it was entertaining and I'm hoping for a second season.
Very nice series. Beautiful art style and thrilling dynamic story
Deserves more than a 6/10. As a stand alone product I think the show is actually pretty good as a action/thriller spy series, and I'm not even a splinter cell fan (although I have played the games when I was a kid). However, I think that they could have explained the world/characters more in detail for people that have absolutely no prior knowledge of the series. I unironically think people are hating on this just because Sam Fisher isn't the sole main character, because I can't understand why ppl rated this so low.
Liev doesn't sound bad in the trailer, but why not bring Ironside?
Look how they massacred my boy.
It's not bad. Not bad at all. Actually, it's a pretty good animation. BUT I believe every Sam Fisher's fan would rather play a new "Splinter Cell" game than watch this. But hey, there's no way to make open-world "Splinter Cell" with towers, so...
It was nice to see an aged Sam, but still a total badass
Very thrilling story. Loved the artwork. Definitely deserves more attention than the 6/10 itโs getting.
As a Splinter Cell Fan, this was reasonable tribute and interesting show/storyline. I did enjoy it. Certainly not an overtly gripping or fast paced action show and probably not for you if you are seeking Mission Impossible thrills and spills, but if you have watched or liked Slow Horses, then you might just like this.
I finished watching Splinter Cell: Deathwatch last night, and I think itโs an underrated series that deserves more attention. As someone whoโs played Splinter Cell: Conviction and Blacklist, I noticed this show takes a different approach to the characters and world we know, offering a fresh perspective that sets it apart. Itโs not a direct copy of the games, but that doesnโt make it any less compelling. As a standalone show, the writing is solid, with characters that hold interest. The world-building and atmosphere stand out, reminding me of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (especially the Polish sequences, which echo Pragueโs neon-noir feel) while the action and tension bring a In Bruges/John Wick-style edge. Some argue Sam feels like a side character, and theyโre partly rightโhis role is smaller than in the games. But having exprienced many story-driven works, I see this as a deliberate move for setting the stage for future seasons to focus more on him. Overall, itโs a welcome addition to the franchise with a few rough edges (like some plot holes). Hopefully, it sparks traction and maybe paves the way for a new game.
If you don't like Splinter Cell it has nothing to offer you, and if you do like Splinter Cell you'll just be annoyed at seeing Fisher completely sidelined in his own franchise. It doesn't have enough intrigue and tension to work as a spy story, it's too uneventful for an action show, the animation is too unstylised to make the combat pop enough for a John Wick style fight show. :person_shrugging_tone1:โ
Too bad I can't get my time back. Skip!
Stopped watching after 5 minutes... boring and disappointing show.
