The Muppet Show - Comments & Tips
My bitter gen x heart was thrilled with this reboot. I loved seeing so many old characters milling about backstage and I hope that this incarnation passes its audition and gets picked up for a few more seasons. While some of the voices are different, they captured some of the charm of the original and Sabrina was a worthy first host. I think Jim would be pleased with the continuation of his masterwork.
Fantastic! Brought back so many memories. Couldn’t stop smiling through the whole show. Just the kind of show the world needs now. I truly hope they are able to bring it back.
I’m shocked how pitch perfect this is to the original show. I plead the Disney gods to allow more episodes!
Perfection. This was a nod to the original and done with such charm and love it brought more than one tear to my eyes. This needs to be picked up immediately.
Absolutely loved the show. I grew up with the muppet show and was worried that the memory was going to be better… but Seth Rogers and the team have kept it true to form. Sensational
Expectations could not have been higher, so I need to factor that in. The new Kermit voice is really not good yet, which amazes me because I know so many people that do the voice better! It didn't really connect on the nostalgia feels, because the updates were jarring. It's corny, but that was always part of the program, but the "celebrity" cameos (particularly Maya Rudolph's) didn't really work, though Sabrina Carpenter was fine as the main guest. It is not quite where it would need to be to become a cultural touchstone once again...but does it need to be? It was fun enough and merciful in not trying to be _TOO EPIC_ in its return.
They genuinely just made a perfect Muppets episode after all this time, I have no notes on a single improvement.
Need a new Kermit voice. Bad casting on the main character.
The Mupper Show brings back the classic Muppet formula: celebrity guests, chaotic sketches, and Miss Piggy committing casual felony assault. Sabrina Carpenter, Maya Rudolph, and Seth Rogen all show up and wisely let the puppets outshine them. The nostalgia is strong—but Kermit’s voice is just different enough to make you wonder if he’s been replaced by a frog from Temu. Thankfully, Miss Piggy remains perfect, violent, and the funniest part of the show. I loved it—but I’m not sure kids today will appreciate puppets emotionally abusing each other like the rest of us did. Still, here’s hoping for more episodes.
A classic Muppets episode made in 2026. Yes, it is just as good as the original episodes, with even more stars to shine in it. But do we really need it or missed to that much? For me, the answer is “Not really” but for friends of the Muppets or of nostalgia in general, it will certainly be a must watch that is just the reboot they were waiting for.
Unexpectedly good. Aside from the voices, which can't be helped anyway unless you want to use AI which I would hate, this felt like genuine Muppet Show. And in any case, the voices arent bad and I'm used to them from the other Muppet content that came in recent years. So, yes, more of it would be appreciated.
I really do hope Disney will greenlit a full season for a Muppet Show revival because this special is just superb. Seth Rogan and Maya Rudolph appearance is pretty good and Sabrina Carpenter did amazing on hosting the show. The whole bit of Gonzo reciting the Academy Award winners of best supporting actress really did got me and it funny it continues for duration of the special. The Queen musical number is good and Matt Vogel as Kermit is a improvement here.
