BBC, so terrible cgi, Russell T Davis, so woke rubbish...

I don't know why I kept watching this. Like a trainwreck you can't look away from. Never in my life have I ever seen a concept butchered by all main characters, the aliens included. My God, Russell! And whoever decided to give you a romance with the Fish.

The Pilot episode was amazing. I wasnโ€™t planning on starting to binge watch the whole thing. This is definitely going into my Christmas holiday binge list. Will update once I finish. I have a good feeling about this miniseries. โ€”โ€”โ€” Update: Itโ€™s a good miniseries to binge watch. However, I felt it could have been much better. The pilot set a high bar that the rest of the episodes couldnโ€™t live up to.

I enjoyed this show until episode 5, which I assume is the final episode because it says the end of the war. Like what exactly caused all the aquamen to die and how did the main guy get gills from simply kissing the fish lady?๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚ Like I've got so many questions and I'm just here like is that it? Are we done, or is there more? Cuz it all feels so rushed with so many questions Thai need answering. Otherwise it was good until the last episode which left a lot to desire.

They actually managed to make a show that doesn't have even one likeable character. The asian looking woman (Not sure if her name was mentioned, won't bother to look it up, there is just one...) on the team came closest. The hooks to Doctor Who are all the characters that suck (Kate used to be an amazing character before they completly ruined her, making him into a civilian being a caricature of a general...). Decided to stop wasting my time with this show about an hour in. To be fair, I was expecting a shit show from the get go.

So far I'm enjoying it. Liking the kinda negotiation/court proceedings feel to it, it really puts the focus on the dialogue. Some of the issues are a bit heavy handed... I would be unsurprised if some other people here are unironically using the word woke, but I don't pay their views much attention anyway. Also the politician Vs the everyman message definitely resonates... You almost feel like telling Kate to stuff it, and go off script, but you can see he doesn't because to some extent he still wants to represent the views of others and not just himself. It definitely has me more interested than the most recent Doctor Who episodes.

Not bad. Not great. Weak ending disappoints and detracts from the series overall.

Really could have done without the stupid love thing. Also the main actor can't act. For the rest, they could have done so much more with the story just to completely tank it in the last 2 episodes.

Yikes. What a goofy show. I get the message and it is certainly a creative way of dealing with climate pollution etc. but a lot of potential was just missed. Other than that โ€ฆ rule 34 anyone?

Idiot's Guide to British Politics. Let me simplify this, an honest simpleton got elected as the ambassador representing England and the world to communicate with the indigenous species of Earth, so he chose to follow his own heart. Let that sink in. IMHO. the premise was bad from the conception. It's a wild imagination of a child-like writer to desperately navigate and to survive the political realm. In reality, that man's brain would be scattered on the floor 5 minutes after he was chosen. At the end of the day, politics is not about 'the good of many', it always becomes 'the good of few greedy enough to do whatever'. This mini series has just compaigned to let England go down so a few got what they want.

> This thing reeks not only of the usual DEI idiocy I've come to expect from UK Sounds great based on MovieGuys review, I like perspective, I'm checking it out now.

I really should have known better than to go near anything, "anything", with the BBC's name on it but I do like Russell Tovey, so I took a look and quickly regretted it. This thing reeks not only of the usual DEI idiocy I've come to expect from UK but also a certain baseless pomposity, that the UK somehow still means something "important" on the world stage. Suffice to say, the hypocritical "touchy feely" identity politics, combined with a sly dash of UK jingoism and a truly irritating soundtrack, quickly got on my nerves. The way Tovey's character seems to spend his time being "minimised", guess no strong male role models, doesn't help either. As for the story, it harks back to 1950's/60's sci fi, about amphibous sea monsters, so even that's not terribly original. Oh but now we have evolved so they are not "sea devils" anymore but instead, hilariously, "Homo Aqua". Yeah, right. I'll try not not laugh too loudly! Limited upside includes decent acting, cinamatography and the creature effects, are, at least interesting. In summary, being lectured by the BBC is frankly absurd. The UK government that pays for them has, figuratively speaking, been in bed with the likes of Israel, so how about you knock off the pseudo moralistic lecturing? As for the rest, the story is okay but its so overwritten by insincere, brittle finger wagging, that it leaves little to like. A hard pass from me.
