> A mystery crime thriller with political ambitions. Smart, balanced, and engaging. This is a well-crafted mystery crime thriller that strikes a great balance across its elements. While the cases can sometimes feel heavy, the show smartly incorporates moments of humor to keep the tone from becoming too dark. The pacing is brisk and engaging, and the mysteries never drag. Even if you can often guess the culprit early, the deductions, forensic details, and plot developments are compelling enough to keep you invested. I especially appreciated how the leads slowly built their credibility through solving smaller cases before stepping into the political arena. Their eventual appointments feel earned and natural, not rushed or forced. The show also avoids being overly graphic—while the crimes and autopsies are central, they’re stylized enough not to be disturbing (at least to me). It was a smart move to release a batch of episodes early on. That way, viewers can stay immersed in the cases before the more politically driven second half kicks in. The transition feels smooth, and the plot threads tie together nicely. The cast delivers strong performances. The two leads have fantastic chemistry—portraying a sharp, communicative couple who genuinely trust each other. The romance feels organic, and the physical intimacy (for a C-drama) is notable unlike POTB or Princess Gambit, this one might be right up your alley.. That said, Ao Ruipeng still feels a bit green next to Li Landi, who really carries the emotional weight. The supporting couples are also charming and add depth to the world. Overall, this is a solid watch for fans of mystery dramas with political intrigue and romance.
