Dovecote - Comments & Tips

Although the short film “Dovecote” impresses with great cinematography, a decent score, and solid performances, it still didn't work for me. This is mainly due to the fact that it seems extremely pretentious. There is no dialog because the oh-so-intense emotions, black-and-white shots, and the women's prison setting (including nuns) must be enough—but they are not. In the end, even lead Zoë Saldaña, whose husband directed the movie, can't save it for me. I just didn't care about anything the entire time.

The interesting part is that it is shown as an almost one sequence shot. The cinematography is beautiful. But the story seems a bit plain to me.
