This movie was released in 1997, soon after the first Mission Impossible movie with Tom Cruise came out in 1996. Although the movie isn't bad, in hindsight, I wish they made more effort to make it stand out like Mission Impossible did in 1996. In July 2023, we are days away from the premier of the 7th instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise. I'm sure that franchise is worth over a billion dollars at this stage. To think that this movie, Val Kilmer's - The Saint, could have spawned a similar franchise makes me sad. I love Simon Templar's escapades from the original 1960s TV show.

The chemistry is so good, you’d think Kilmer and Shue fell in love on set. The villains and action are forgettable. Otherwise there’s a goofy charm to the movie.

>"My name is Thomas Moore. I was named after a Saint who died for his faith." Val Kilmer and Elizabeth Shue are actually not bad in this movie. They bring some joy to it, but the movie itself is just bad. I feel like Val got offered this while his buddy from Top Gun, Tom Cruise, got offered Mission Impossible and one was done way better.

By no means a great movie but for some reason have been drawn to this one, seeing it 3-4 times over the years. For the most part entertaining though the dialogue was pretty bad, however I like Val Kilmer in the lead and shares some nice scenes with the lovely Elisabeth Shue. **3.5/5**

Absolutely love this movie. I find it charming, alluring and I seem drawn to it when the weather gets cooler, which probably has something to do with much of the film's setting in Moscow. Kilmer's role almost feels like that of a super hero, with a childhood trauma that still haunts him. The beautif More

This is not really a “The Saint” movie as far as I am concerned. It has very little resemblance to the Simon Templar that we got to know in the TV-series starring Roger Moore in the lead role. I have not read the books so I do not know how well the movie actually relates to the books but I have More
